Technical Specifications and Applications for KD Series Filter Media in Ammonia Nitrogen and Heavy Metal Removal

KD-6 Ammonia Nitrogen Removal Filter Media:

1. Purification Method: Adsorption, catalysis, biological regeneration, and ion exchange.

2. Operation: Upward water flow with upward regeneration.

3. Filtration Speed: 5 m³/hour; layer height from 1.6 to 2.8m.

4. Maximum Capacity: 10,000 mg/L.

5. Adsorption Capacity: 25,000-35,000 mg/L, affected by raw water concentration, interfering ions, and pH level.

6. Regeneration: 10% saline solution, using 1.2 times the volume of the filter media. Soak for 4 hours, then discharge.

7. Industrial Use: Similar to quartz and manganese sand in industrial applications.


KD-6 Long-Term Ammonia Nitrogen Removal Filter Media:

1. Purification Method: Adsorption, ion exchange, membrane decomposition, and biological regeneration.

2. Operation: Upward water flow and regeneration.

3. Filtration Rate: Dosage based on 40-60% of hourly filtered water volume.

4. Maximum Capacity: 5000 mg/L.

5. Adsorption Capacity: Unlimited.

6. Operating Costs: Zero; simple to use, effective for over 5 years.

7. Aeration Requirement: Install aeration equipment before the filter tank/pool, adjusting according to ammonia nitrogen levels.

8. Optimal Operating Temperature: Above 20°C; performance decreases below 5°C.

9. Regeneration: Not required.


KD-5 Heavy Metal Removal Filter Media:

1. Bulk Density: 1.1.

2. Purification Method: Adsorption, catalysis, and ion exchange.

3. Operation: Upward water flow and regeneration.

4. Filtration Speed: 4-8 m³/hour, adjusted according to heavy metal concentration. For iron at 1 mg/L and manganese at 0.4 mg/L, use a 7 m/hour speed.

5. Layer Height: 1.5-2.8m; multi-stage treatment recommended for heavy metal concentrations above 3 mg/L.

6. Adsorption Capacity: 25,000-30,000 mg/L, affected by raw water concentration, interfering ions, and pH (optimal range 7-9).

7. Regeneration: Soak in saturated saline solution for 4 hours; discard solution after soaking.


Water Treatment Filter Media Applications:

- Drinking Water Purification

- Industrial and Wastewater Treatment: Applicable in various water filtration systems, such as quick filter pools, sewage filters, mechanical and multi-media filters, and integrated water purifiers.

- Boiler Water Softening: Effective for small and medium boilers by removing calcium and magnesium ions, reducing scaling and corrosion, thus extending boiler lifespan.

- Textile Wastewater Treatment: Achieves 86%-92% COD removal, 99% BOD removal, and 77%-79% color reduction. Due to its large specific surface area and strong ion exchange capabilities, it effectively supports microbial attachment and facilitates the conversion of NH₄⁺ to nitrates by nitrifying bacteria.

- Industrial Wastewater in Steel, Non-ferrous Metal, and Chemical Sectors: Removes phosphorus, lead, and hexavalent chromium. Used zeolite can be regenerated with concentrated saline backwash for reuse. Additionally, it removes turbidity, color, odor, and harmful heavy metals (e.g., chromium, cadmium, nickel, lead, zinc, mercury, iron ions) as well as organic pollutants such as phenols, nitrogen compounds, ammonia, and phosphates. This is particularly effective for reducing micro-pollutants without leaching toxic substances, offering superior removal of iron, manganese, fluoride, arsenic, and ammonia nitrogen.
